The Craft: Little Piggy

Here’s what you’ll need…

*If you don’t have a small paper plate you can always make a circle with pink construction paper.

Here’s how you make it…

  1. Paint both paper plates pink. Glue the small plate onto the large plate, not in the center, but off set (as shown in the picture).
  2.

  3. Cut out all of your shapes from pink construction paper. You will need: 4 pig feet, 1 round snout, and 2 triangle ears.

  4. Glue all of your paper parts onto your pig’s body. Glue on your google eyes (or use a marker to draw them on). Don’t forget to draw on your pig’s nostrils!
  5.

  6. Make a hole at the top of your paper plate with a hole punch or scissors. Thread the pink pipe cleaner through the hole and curl it.

Up in the sky.

I dance and I shimmer

Way up, up high.

Sometimes I’m red.

Sometimes I’m blue.

But I always sparkle

Just for you.

Up in the sky.

I dance and I shimmer

Way up, up high

The Craft: Fourth of July Sparkler

Supplies needed:

  • 1 Capped flower pick (available at craft stores)
  • 1 drinking straw
  • Silver pipe cleaners
  • Blue glue – paint (mix equal parts of glue and paint)
  • Paint brush
  • Blue glitter
  • Red, white and blue curling ribbon

Directions:

Paint the tube and cap of flower pick with glue paint. Sprinkle glitter on paint while still wet. Let dry.
Put the end of the flower pick into the straw to make a handle.

Twist the pipe cleaners together and poke the twisted pipe cleaners into the cap of the flower pick. Spread the piper cleaners in different directions to form the sparkler.

Tie ribbons around the straw and curl the ends.

Idea:
If doing this with younger children you can decorate the flower pick with glitter stickers instead of paint.
