Here’s what we did for Fun Friday on December 9th.

The Stories

There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bell! By Lucille Colandro

When Santa Lost His Ho! Ho! Ho! By Laura Rader

The Songs and Fingerplays

The Rudolph Prance
Give each child a red sticky dot to wear on her nose as she imitates Rudolph in this song.
(sung to the tune of “The Hokey-Pokey”)
You put your [hooves] in; you put your [hooves] out.
You put your [hooves] in and you shake ’em all about!
You do the Rudolph Prance and you shake it all around—
That’s what the reindeer do…woooo!
Repeat the verse, substituting antlers, red nose, and white tail for the underlined word.

The Craft: Paper Bag Reindeer Puppet

What you’ll need:

  • Brown paper lunch bag
  • Construction paper; white, black, brown and red
  • White craft glue or glue stick
  • Scissors
  • Star stickers

How to make it:
Trace both hands on the brown construction paper. Cut out hands. Set aside.

Cut two circles from the white construction paper. Cut two smaller black construction paper circles. Glue the black circles on the white circles to make the eyes. Glue eyes on the bottom flap of the sack.

Cut a strip of black paper with width of the paper bag, about one inch wide. Attach star stickers to the black strip of paper (collar). Glue collar to the sack just below the bottom flap.

Use glue stick to attach the hands to the back of the bag as the antlers.
