The Craft: Fourth of July Sparkler

Supplies needed:

  • 1 Capped flower pick (available at craft stores)
  • 1 drinking straw
  • Silver pipe cleaners
  • Blue glue – paint (mix equal parts of glue and paint)
  • Paint brush
  • Blue glitter
  • Red, white and blue curling ribbon

Directions:

Paint the tube and cap of flower pick with glue paint. Sprinkle glitter on paint while still wet. Let dry.
Put the end of the flower pick into the straw to make a handle.

Twist the pipe cleaners together and poke the twisted pipe cleaners into the cap of the flower pick. Spread the piper cleaners in different directions to form the sparkler.

Tie ribbons around the straw and curl the ends.

Idea:
If doing this with younger children you can decorate the flower pick with glitter stickers instead of paint.
