Fun Friday: Story Time + Crafts #37

Saturday, December 18th, 2010

Here’s what we did for Fun Friday on December 17th.

The Story

The book was When Santa Lost His HO! HO! HO! By Laura Rader

The Songs:

The Rudolph Prance

Give each child a red sticky dot to wear on her nose as she imitates Rudolph in this song. Sing to the tune of “The Hokey-Pokey”

You put your [hooves] in; you put your [hooves] out.
You put your [hooves] in and you shake ’em all about!
You do the Rudolph Prance and you shake it all around—
That’s what the reindeer do…woooo!

Repeat the verse, substituting antlers, red nose, and white tail for the underlined word.

We Wish You A Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.

Now let’s all do a little clapping (clap),
Now let’s all do a little clapping(clap),
Now let’s all do a little clapping (clap),
And spread Christmas cheer (raise arms above head)

Now let’s all do a little jumping (jump),
Now let’s all do a little jumping(jump),
Now let’s all do a little jumping (jump)
And spread Christmas cheer (raise arms above head)

Now let’s all do a little waving (wave),
Now let’s all do a little waving(wave),
Now let’s all do a little waving(wave),
And spread Christmas cheer (raise arms above head)

We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
We wish you a Merry Christmas
And a Happy New Year.

  3. Once the CD is dry, glue the bottom of the hat to the top of the CD.
  4. Glue a “beard” of cotton balls along the outside edge of the CD.
  5. Glue two googly eyes onto the CD near the hat.
  6. Glue a pink pom pom under the eyes as a nose.
  7. Cut a cotton ball in half and glue above the eyes as eyebrows.

Holiday decorating

Thursday, November 6th, 2008

Getting ready to decorate for the holidays, but want something a little different? Check out these gorgeous, funny angels from Haba.

hb8253.jpgThe soft angels come with a loop to hang on the tree as ornaments, or on hooks around your house any time of year. Their bodies are soft, but their beautiful faces are beechwood with cheery painted expressions. I can’t help smiling every time I pass them.

Each of their dresses are delicately beaded or embroidered with different designs. And their fuzzy string hair is a hoot! We can’t stop ruffling it here in the office.

The wooden angels are just as versatile as their hanging sisters, and they can stand on their own two feet. They also have fun string hair sticking out of their pig or pony tails.

hb8225.jpgMy daughter plays the violin and my son sings, so I’m already looking at those two as stocking stuffers.Whether you are decorating for the holidays or just want a few extra smiles around the house, these girls are sure to offer a moment of calm as you walk by and catch their infectious smiles.

We’ll be adding more holiday decorations in the coming days, so stay tuned!
